Hey whatsup! :) i'm Dani and I work for a radio station called Mai fm. One of the reasons I wanted to work in radio was for my voice to be heard for all the right reasons so as soon as I heard of this opportunity to support and raise awareness for the youth homelessness I jumped on it.
Half of the homeless population in New Zealand are under 25, and 40% of those young people are LGBTIQ. These figures are scary, but whats even scarier is that 26% of these young people are homeless because they were disowned by their families.
Myself coming from a LGBT backround I have been there I know what the feelings are and how scary it is to come out and the not knowing if you will be accepted, I was extremely lucky with my family and friends unfortunately as these statistics prove it is not the same outcome for many LGBTIQ and the least I could do is raise awareness and rough it for one night.
I love to help where I can and although I cant save the world I can do awesome things like this to work our way towards it. Whatever you can click the "give now" button and lets prove that they are not alone. Thanks so much :)
