Through my position on the Lotteries Grants Committee for Auckland, I have been introduced to Lifewise and the brilliant work that they do and I felt that this was a way that I could truly help them make a difference. Each night while I am in my warm home with my loved ones, there are hundreds of young Aucklander’s out in the cold. Being a believer in giving where you live, I’m doing this to help improve the lives of other Aucklanders.
I’m very fortunate to have an incredibly supportive family, friends and team at Allied Medical, who I know are right behind me in being part of The Big Sleepout. If everyone I am connected with on the likes of Facebook and Linked In, had one less coffee and donated the $5 to my Everyday Hero page, this small difference would certainly add up. Though if you can give more, that would be amazing.
To be honest, one night out in the middle of winter is a small sacrifice and I so hope that with the money I raise for Lifewise, at least one young Aucklander has a few less nights out in the cold and gets helped to find a path to help them end this being a reality for them.
