My Story

Earlier this year my 15 year old son came to me to ask for a bit of cash, not for himself, but because they were raising funds to help out a friend who'd been kicked out of home for having a 'different lifestyle choice' than their parents. With the support of close friends and other help services this was quickly resolved, but not everyone is so lucky.

So I'm raising funds to help ensure Lifewise have the resources they need to support other kids and young people that find themselves on the streets.

Team AUT

Blob

Tika, pono, aroha; integrity, respect and compassion.

With these as our core values, AUT is proud to once again host The Lifewise Big Sleepout – to boost awareness of the awful grind of homelessness and raise money to support the work that will eliminate it from our society.
We are also proud of our staff who take part – raising sponsorship by sleeping outside on a winter’s night. No, it’s not true rough sleeping, but the experience – and spending time with people who’ve done it for real – does give genuine insight. That’s why many do it year after year – it’s compelling.
So please support your colleagues by going to their Big Sleepout pages and donating.
On behalf of our fellow Aucklanders – particularly the kids – who have nowhere to sleep, nowhere to call home ... thank you.
By the way, students from the Master of Human Rights class have made a documentary, “On Our Doorstep – a voice for homeless youth.” You can see the trailer on the AUT Facebook page.
