For the first year in Auckland on 6 July, I will be homeless.
For one cold night in the dead of winter, I’ll be stripped of my creature comforts, exposed to the elements and given insight into what it means to sleep rough.
With only a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard I will take a public stand for our homeless youth at the annual Lifewise Big Sleepout.
For me, being made homeless for a night is a choice. But for the thousands of Kiwis, over half of whom are under 25, being homeless is not a choice. It is a devastating reality that demands a compassionate response.
It’s time that we took a stand because, despite all its complications, homelessness can be solved. EVERY dollar I raise will be directly applied to Lifewise’s unique “no band aids” approach to homelessness.
Last year Vodafone finished 3rd amongst other corporates and raised about $20,000.00. This year we hope to do even better.
So before I bed down on a slab of concrete I’d love to ask if you might sponsor me. Please back me and please back this worthy cause by digging deep today. Thank you.
